Planning for the perfect kitchen is an exercise that often involves maximizing space without compromising on form. It is a delicate balance between the two that really brings to life your dream kitchen. A pantry plays a huge role in it all. Whether you cook ever so rarely or love to regularly serve up sumptuous meals for your family and friends, there is always a pantry out there that perfectly serves your needs. And unsurprisingly, it is often shelf space, lighting, storage room and placement of the pantry that we tend to focus on. But even the most space-savvy pantries need to be aesthetic as well!
The L-shaped counter of this kitchen allowed Jordan Iverson to design it with long and narrow windows instead of backsplashes. The windows meet in the corner and offer a refreshing and continuous view of the garden. There‘s plenty of space left for storage cabinets and shelves.
The small window seat can also provide a welcome break from the wall of shelves and cabinets in the kitchen, ushering in some much needed contrast. The throw pillows, cushions and fabric of the window seat also bring textural change to a space that is otherwise dominated by wood, tile and metallics. Whether you use it as a after-school hangout for your kids (as you keep an eye on them) or as a wonderful conversation nook, the small window seat in the kitchen comes in mighty handy.
Another example of great use of lower cabinets in a traditional kitchen. Here, there is much less stainless steel, but it works so well with the cool colors throughout the kitchen, like the backsplash and the glass on the doors. The grey on the island also pulls the silvery hues together very nicely!
